3D product modelling. Get the details right.

Create the product asset before planning its campaign outputs. Mimic Advertising brings together 3D scanning, modelling and texturing around the shape, materials and views your production needs. The deliverable is an agreed digital asset, with geometry and surface detail prepared for its next use.

Model the product your camera will see

A bag seen in close-up needs different preparation from a small object in the background. Define the required views, level of detail and whether parts must open, bend or move. Include dimensions, approved photography and any CAD or scan data that already exists.

For fashion accessories, small construction details can define the product: stitching, seams, straps, hardware and the edge of a panel. Identify which details are essential to the shot before the asset is built.

Separate geometry from material review

Review proportions and construction before detailed texturing. Then agree the reference views and lighting used to judge colour, leather grain, metal, fabric or another surface. Consistent review conditions make it easier to identify an asset change rather than a lighting difference.

Scanning may provide source detail, but it does not define the final handoff on its own. State whether the receiving team needs a cleaned model, textures, an articulated asset or another agreed package. File format, scale, naming and dependencies should be confirmed with that team.

Documented product contributions

For Valentino, Mimic Productions supplied 3D scanning, modelling and texturing of bags for Sucuk und Bratwurst. The project shows how product shape and surface preparation support another creative team's campaign workflow.

The Balmain 1945 bag project records modelling and texturing. The credits are specific to that contribution; they do not establish responsibility for the complete advertisement, media performance or every rendered output.

Specify where the asset goes next

Tell us whether the asset will be used for still imagery, animation or an interactive application, and share the receiving team's specifications. Reuse across destinations may require different geometry, texture or material versions. Do not assume a single file will work unchanged everywhere.

Send the product list, reference material, existing files, intended views and delivery dates. Physical product access, scanning arrangements, permissions and any travel are agreed for the project. The studio is based in Potsdam; US and UK briefs should also identify review time zones and authorised approvers.

Frequently asked questions

01

Do you need the physical product?

It depends on the available source material and required detail. Share CAD files, scans, dimensions and photographs first. Physical access or a capture session can then be assessed for the project.

02

Does a product model include finished renders?

Not automatically. Model-and-texture delivery, still rendering and animation are separate outputs. Include each required output in the brief so the scope and approvals are clear.

03

Can an existing model be reused for another campaign?

Possibly, after checking permissions and technical suitability. New camera views, close-ups, materials or delivery platforms may require changes to the asset.
